ON JULY 8, 2017 9:42 PM IN NEWS An environmental engineer, Mr Isaac Bryant, on Saturday urged conversion of human urine into fertiliser and other products that would have higher environmental value. “Urine, which most of us consider as waste, is a valuable resource which we can use directly as fertiliser. “Urine is very safe, hygienic, easy to handle and collect, and easily available,“ Bryant, a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, told the News Agency of Nigeria. ON JULY 8, 2017 8:36 PM IN CRIME GUARD, NEWS Five Nigerians jailed over £2,500,000 scam in UK An illegal immigrant who headed a gang which used the identities of MPs, judges and police officers to con the taxpayer out of millions of pounds was jailed for more than five years.  Kayode Sanni, 38, received a jail term of five years and three months for his part in the elaborate scam.  According to the mailonlie the fraudsters stole personal details from the Civil Service Sports Council (CSSC), which provides sport and fitness facilities to more than 120,000 public sector employees and pensioners. ON JULY 8, 2017 5:00 PM IN NEWS  Migrants from Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana feared drowned off Libya Thirty-five migrants, including seven children, were feared drowned after their inflatable boat sank on Saturday off the Libyan coast, the coastguard said. Eighty-five migrants, including 18 women, were rescued with the help of fishermen who alerted the coastguard, said Issa al-Zarrouk, a coastguard official in Garabulli, 60 kilometres (40 miles) east of Tripoli. Navy spokesman Ayoub Kacem said the boat sank six nautical miles northwest of Garabulli, and 10 fishing boats took part in the rescue.  The rescued migrants were from countries including Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon, the Ivory Coast and Ghana, Kacem said.
